what is a floppy wheel?

Updated: Apr 28, 2020

Properties: • grit size • grit type • Type of fabric For proper use of a floppy disk, the machine must be fitted to it. The backing of a certain flap can work with a 650-1000 watt angle grinder while the backing of other material will only work with a machine with a capacity of 1500 watts or higher. In addition, it is necessary to choose the size of the grit for the work. A low numbered grit size floppy disk will fit more material removal (chip) while a higher numbered grit size floppy disk will be more suitable for finish work (less chip removal). Flap discs come with a variety of materials and alloys: 1. Aluminum Oxide 2. Silicon carbide 3. Ceramics 4. Zirconia 5. Combination of Zirconia and Aluminum Oxide 6. A combination of ceramics and zirconia 7. Combination of Ceramic and Aluminum Oxide 8. Mini Scotch in different hardness (strip and clean) 9. Felt The type of grit type (material) will be adapted to the type of work, for example, Zirconia will work on stainless steel, the ceramic grit type will work on iron castings and/or hard steels, etc. Using the right material Even the right grit size for the same job will result in polishing differences in the cost-benefit ratio of 1: 3 while properly utilizing the flop.

There are two types of backings on the floppy disk:

Type 27

Flat, best to use at an angle of 0 - 15 degrees

Type 29:

cone, for work on edges and contours. It is best to use at an angle of 15 - 25 degrees
